The Government of Samarinda City, East Kalimantan Province received a visit from the Delegation of the United States Embassy (US Embassy) which carried sports and cultural missions.

"Samarinda is one of the three cities in Indonesia that is the destination for the United States delegation to be visited. The other two cities are Palembang and DKI Jakarta," said Head of the Samarinda City Youth and Tourism Office, Muslimin in Samarinda, Saturday, August 5.

He said the US Embassy delegation was in Samarinda City for three days, from August 3 to 5, 2023.

The delegation of Uncle Sam's state sports arrived in Samarinda City via APT Pranoto International Airport Thursday, August 3 at around 13.30 WITA and was greeted by Assistant II of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Samarinda City, Sam Syaimun.

The US Embassy delegation, Mery K Trechock (Assistant Cultural Attache US Embassy Jakarta) along with two former NBA player Stephen Howard (putra), Edniesha Curry (putri), was immediately invited to visit Pampang Cultural Village.

The day before, Irmina Reniarti (Youth Outreach Specialist) US Embassy staff had arrived earlier.

After arriving at the Pampang Cultural Village, the group was greeted with a traditional ceremony and was then invited to enter the Tawai Floating Traditional Lamin.

While in Pampang Cultural Village, the US Embassy delegation looked very enthusiastic in watching the various dances performed by the youth and women of the Kenyah Dayak Tribe, Pampang Cultural Village.

Ending his visit, Mery K Trechock conveyed messages and motivations to the residents of the Pampang Cultural Village, especially to students of SMP 30 Samarinda.

"The dance that is displayed is very beautiful, because you really like dancing and always train diligently. So do the same thing in life, if you always try to be serious in any way, you will also succeed. Learn diligently, and the US Embassy in Jakarta has a lot of programs that are open to all of you," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

He also advised the residents of the Pampang Cultural Village to be able to maintain and preserve the culture they have, according to him, the dance that is performed has its own characteristics and does not rule out the possibility that in the future they can be invited to appear in the United States.

Basketball player Stephen Howard also gave motivation to students. He said that never be discouraged if you feel or have shortcomings, continue to be enthusiastic and train and take advantage of other advantages that you have, it will certainly provide the desired results.
