Not Detained But Brawl Students In Kendari Found In Bringing Machetes Still Legally Processed

The police are still processing the law of students with the initials MAF who were caught carrying sharp weapons (sajam) of machete type during a brawl in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Kendari Police Chief Kombes Pol Muhammad Eka Fathurrahman said the brawl case on Saturday, June 29 was handled by the Kendari Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"We will continue to carry out legal proceedings, later whether the court is returned to parents, the affairs will be later. The important thing is that if someone carries a sharp weapon, the law will still be processed," said Eka in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Friday, August 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

Eka emphasized that this was done to provide a deterrent effect to all students in the jurisdiction of the Kendari Police so as not to carry a knife.

"What is clear is that we will provide a determinant effect (prevention), anyone who carries a sharp weapon, or the children, we will continue to process it," said Eka.

However, Eka said the police would still provide relief to students involved in the brawl as much as possible without being detained.

"However, we provide relief not to be detained, and as soon as a week (one week) the investigation must be completed. But it must still be processed until the court," said Eka.

On Saturday, June 29, the Kendari Police secured about 40 students who wanted to attack other groups of students. A number of students involved were caught carrying weapons.

"Yesterday night on Sunday we secured as many as 40 students who indicated that they would carry out attacks on other groups of fellow students," said Eka.

Based on the investigation, Eka said that the trigger for the attack was due to uploads on social media from other groups of students who sparked the student group carrying out attacks.
