The Minister Of Defense Emphasized The Role Of KKIP In Recommending Purchase Of Alutsista

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto emphasized the important role of the Defense Industry Policy Committee (KKIP) in providing recommendations and evaluations of all defense equipment purchases.

Prabowo in the KKIP plenary meeting at the Ministry of Defense office, explained the considerations from the Defense Industry Policy Committee guaranteeing that every defense equipment purchase cooperation with other countries' defense industries benefits Indonesia.

"This is to ensure that Indonesia benefits from all aspects in every defense equipment purchase agreement," said Prabowo as the Daily Chair of the Defense Industry Policy Committee (KKIP) as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.

Prabowo while chairing the plenary meeting emphasized the importance of supporting the independence of the Indonesian defense industry. Therefore, cooperation in purchasing defense equipment needs to be assessed as an investment that can help the competence of the defense industry, as well as support the national economy.

"In the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia at the opening, it places defense as the first goal of the state, namely to protect the entire Indonesian nation. This is the national goal," said the Minister of Defense.

The 2023 Plenary Meeting of the KKIP at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Office, Thursday, is preparation for the KKIP Session which will be chaired by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo. The KKIP trial is scheduled to take place at the end of 2023.

During the meeting, several ministers were present, including SOE Minister Erick Thohir, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, then Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (Wakasad) Lt. Gen. Agus Subiyanto, Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri) Komjen Pol. Agus Andrianto, and representatives from the defense industry, among others, Defense Industry Indonesia (Defend ID), PT Dirgantara Indonesia, and PT PAL.

Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) M. Herindra as Secretary of the KKIP and Head of the KKIP Implementing Team Yoedhi Swastranto were also present at the meeting.

"I am grateful for the presence at the Plenary Meeting of the Defense Industry Policy Committee (KKIP) this time," said Defense Minister Prabowo.

The Defense Industry Policy Committee was formed by the Government in 2013 as regulated in Law Number 16 of 2012 concerning the Defense Industry. The committee is tasked with coordinating national policies in planning, formulation, implementation, control, synchronization, and evaluation of the defense industry.
