Amnesty International Encourages The Establishment Of Ad Hoc Human Rights Court To Investigate The Kudatuli Tragedy

JAKARTA - Executive Director of Amnesty Internasional Usman Hamid asked Komnas HAM and the government to thoroughly investigate the rioting case of Twenty-seven July (Kudatuli) in the form of an attack on the PDI DPP office in Jakarta on July 27, 1996 by forming an Ad Hoc Human Rights Court. "This case must be dismantled, if it is not dismantled it can be repeated," said Usman in a Reflection on the 27 July 1996 Incident of the Indonesian Democratization Gate at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, July 27. According to him, the case must be dismantled so that it does not repeat itself with other parties in the country. The reason is, Usman assessed that the Kudatuli incident on July 27, 1996 was the most brutal human rights violation (HAM) incident in Indonesia. "The incident of 27 Huli, if we look at this, is actually the most brutal form of human rights violations in the 90s," he explained. For this reason, he asked all political parties (political parties) in Parliament to support the settlement of this case. Parliamentary political parties should also ask President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to issue a Presidential Decree on the Ad Hoc Human Rights Court incident on July 27. "This case should be re-investigated with the mechanism of the Human Rights Court and I think political parties have a responsibility that can take a role to encourage the settlement of gross human rights violations through the establishment of the AD Hoc Human Rights Court," said Usman. Not only that, he also saw that at that time the intervention of power was very visible through attempts to attack and take over the forced transfer of the PDIP office. Kudatuli was an attack and forced retrieval of the PDI DPP office on Jalan Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, on 27 July 1996. The attack was carried out by a mob of supporters of Soerjadi and assisted by security forces.
