Immigration Soetta Airport Thwarts 3,195 PMIs Abroad

TANGERANG - The Special Class I Immigration Office for Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) thwarted the departure of 3,195 non-procedural Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) abroad during the period January to July 2023.

Head of the Soetta Immigration Office Muhammad Tito Andrianto detailed that of the 3,195 non-procedural PMIs that had been prevented from leaving, 212 people had been recorded since January, 417 people in February, and 525 people in March.

"Meanwhile, there are 309 people in April, 580 in May, and 566 in June and July, until 23 there were 586 people," Tito said in his statement, Tuesday, July 25.

He also revealed that in addition to preventing PMI departures through airport entrances, his party is also trying to prevent them through the passport issuance process to prevent non-procedural PMI departures.

It is known that there were 53 passport applications that were rejected with details of 14 applications in January, 6 in February, 13 in March, 10 in April, 1 in May, and 5 in June. Meanwhile, in July to 21 there were 4 applications rejected

"The rejection of the issuance of this passport is usually because the person concerned admits that he does not have it, it turns out that he already has, or an inappropriate file, or provides incorrect information, it could also be because it is indicated that PMI is Non-Procedural," he concluded.
