Child Prison In Palembang Wins KPAI 2023 Award

PALEMBANG - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) gave awards to the Special Child Development Institute (LPKA) or Palembang Children's Prison, Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra.

"The 2023 KPAI award is given to Lapas Anak as a law enforcement institution caring for children," said Head of the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Ilham Djaya in Palembang, Saturday.

The award was handed over by the Central KPAI Commissioner to Plt. Head of LPKA Palembang Herastini at Grand Studio Metro TV, West Jakarta, Thursday (20/7).

The KPAI award is given as a form of appreciation for the commitment and innovation of ministries/agencies, local governments, KPAD, professional workers, law enforcement institutions, community groups, and individuals who have actively contributed to child protection.

"Alhamdulillah, LPKA Palembang is one of the institutions in the ranks of the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office this year to receive appreciation as a law enforcement institution that cares about children," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, July 22.

Quoting Vice President Ma'ruf Amin's message, Kakanwil Ilham said that child protection must be a common concern and that cases of children must be resolved based on existing regulations.

"Families need special attention because families as miniatures of the nation must be able to be handled in child protection," he said.

Palembang Children's Prison as a work unit that is a place to foster children in conflict with the law, is considered internally and by the KPAI it fulfills aspects of attention to child protection.

"I appreciate the achievements that have been achieved by LPKA Palembang. The award is given for concrete work and has an impact on child protection," said Ilham.
