Police Save 2,027 Victims Of Human Trafficking During June-July

JAKARTA - The National Police handled at least 445 cases of human trafficking and rescued 2,027 victims of human trafficking in June and July 2023.

Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police Brigadier General Suyudi Ario Seto in a legal seminar in Jakarta, Tuesday, said that Polda Metro Jaya contributed to the achievements of the Police.

The reason is, Polda Metro Jaya handled 12 of the 445 cases of human trafficking, arrested 14 suspects, and rescued 55 of the 2,027 victims.

According to Seto, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, human trafficking is a crime that not only violates human rights, but also does not respect human dignity.

Therefore, human trafficking is a serious problem, and Indonesia is committed to protecting its migrant workers from human trafficking actors.

"In this case, the state has given a mandate to the Police to lead the handling of cases of human trafficking," said Seto.

For this reason, continued Seto, Polda Metro Jaya is certainly committed to continuing to take action against perpetrators and uncovering human trafficking networks.

Seto hopes that this seminar will help participants learn about the latest modus operandi as well as technical and tactical skills mapping human trafficking networks to allow the handling of these cases appropriately.
