KPI Regarding The Quality Of The Soap Opera: How Come 9 Years Like This?

Chairman of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Ubaidillah stated that his party wanted to discuss with filmmakers or soap opera makers.

Through discussions, it is hoped that KPI can understand the challenges faced by industry players so that later it can improve the quality of content.

The meeting is also expected to solve the problem of the soap opera content quality index which has always been bad in almost a decade.

"We will discuss and coordinate with broadcasting institutions that have soap opera content and production houses. We ask why nine years like this. Maybe there are complaints from PH and industry, if there is, we can help to make the right arrangements for soap operas in the future," said Ubaidillah as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 18.

In the report "Expose of the Quality Index of the Television Broadcast Program for the first period of January-March 2023", it is known that soap operas again get a bad index with an index of 2.78, this achievement is below the KPI standard with an index value of 3.00.

This unsatisfactory achievement has apparently been obtained by soap opera content since the first KPI conducted a measurement of the quality index of television broadcasts in 2014.

Therefore, new communication is needed in addition to giving warnings to broadcasters who broadcast soap opera content.

In addition to finding the root cause of poor content in soap operas, it is hoped that the discussion can also invite filmmakers to grow positive values in their work.

"Hopefully this soap opera can be a spectacle for guidance and not making cracks. We hope that we can watch broadcasts that are more worthy of being watched by Indonesian families, children-friendly, and women-friendly," said Ubaidillah.

In addition to discussing with filmmakers who create soap operas, Ubaidillah will also take similar steps for entertainment content creators on TV.

Because entertainment content is also included in broadcast programs that have received poor predicates since the measurement of the TV broadcast quality index was carried out.

As for entertainment content or infotainmentindeks obtained in the first period of 2023, it was 2.80.
