KAI Hopes For The Community's Role In Supervising Suspicious Activities On The Railway Imbas Iron Rail Theft In Garut

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) hopes that community participation will report suspicious incidents on the railway line (KA) to PT KAI officers following the theft of rail iron in the Malangbong area, Garut Regency.

"We remind that the perpetrators of the theft will be subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft and Weighting with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison," said Public Relations Manager Daop 2 Bandung Mahendro Trang Bawono when contacted, Tuesday, July 18, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the two perpetrators of the theft of railroad iron at KM 227 plots of Warungbandrek-Bumiwaluya road or to be precise along the Bunisari Village route to Citeras Village in Malangbong District, had been handled by the police.

Mahendro said that from the arrest, the evidence that was secured included 1 track stock measuring 1.5 meters and 2 iron bearings with a length of 3 meters that were ready to be transported using the perpetrator's vehicle.

"The two perpetrators, according to reports in the field, were about to steal used tracks that functioned as rebuttal stone retainers," he said.

According to him, the stolen goods were not active rail lines that were used as the main route. However, he continued, it could still endanger the safety of train travel due to disruption of rail line geometry to unstable.

"This can result in the condition of the geometry of the railroad tracks being disrupted and unstable," he said.

Previously, the Malangbong Police arrested two perpetrators of theft of iron bearing railroad bearings in the Malangbong District, Garut Regency, Tuesday, July 18 in the morning.

The two perpetrators were arrested when the Malangbong Police patrolled vulnerable hours in the Malangbong area.
