PTPN XI HGU Corruption Case, KPK Prevents 5 People From Going Abroad

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has prevented five people from leaving the country in connection with the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of land for cultivation rights for sugarcane plantations at PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XI.

"The party in question is two officials at PTPN XI who at the time of the incident were still active and three private parties," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 18.

Ali said the request for prevention of the five had been coordinated with the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The duration of preventing the next six months is until around December 2023 and can be extended as needs from the investigative team," he said.

The KPK also hopes that the parties who will be summoned by investigators will cooperate by fulfilling the summons and providing information in accordance with the facts.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday (14/7) announced that it had opened a new investigation into PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XI, regarding allegations of corruption in the procurement of land rights to use for sugarcane plantations.

Ali Fikri revealed that KPK investigators have also named suspects in the investigation of the alleged corruption, although they have not been able to announce how many people have been named as suspects or their roles in the case.

He confirmed information about a search at the PTPN XI office on Jalan Merak, South Krembangan, Krembangan District, Surabaya City, on Friday (14/7).

Meanwhile, PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) Persero as the parent company of PTPN Group stated that it would support all efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia.

"As a parent company in plantation and forestry clusters, Holding Perkebunan Nusantara supports efforts to eradicate corruption by law enforcers," said PTPN III's Director of Institutional Relations Holding M. Arifin Firdaus.
