Indonesia Ready To Host OIC-CA 2023, Hopes To Advance World Diversity

JAKARTA - Indonesia has high hopes of becoming a catalyst in building world diversity harmony through x. This was conveyed by Deputy for Youth Development Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh when he was a panelist at a high-level discussion with the delegation of OIC-CA member countries at Auditorium 22 Dzulhijjah, Sultan Aji State Islamic University Muhammad Idris (UINSI) Samarinda, East Kalimantan, earlier last week.

"Indonesia is expected to be a catalyst in building harmony in the midst of diversity," said Asrorun Ni'am.

According to him, diversity in this world is true. So that it must be maintained in a good way so that it is kept away from potential divisions and to be used as a force in building a better civilization.

"Diversity is real and if it is not managed properly it can become the seeds of conflict and hostility. However, on the other hand, if managed properly, this will be our integrator as a nation," he added.

One of the OIC-CA 2023 agendas is to talk about diversity and its management methods for the benefit of building a better civilization in the future.

"I convey a few things about different normative aspects which are gifts from God and how we manage that difference becomes a power as social capital for the benefit of good in the future," explained Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh.

From the historical aspect of Indonesia, he continued, the difference is real. But Indonesia has a region that can be optimized to manage that difference into a power called the philosophy of Bhineka Tunggal Ika.

"In the Islamic context, we also have a long history related to the commitment to build togetherness in the midst of diversity, even the issue of commitment is one of the important messages conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad during the Wada Hajj," he said.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports provides good experience in managing these differences both at the regional, national and international levels. "At the national level, the Ministry of Youth and Sports facilitates the meeting of young people from various provinces in this joint project called PPAP for the second time," he explained.

"Then at the Asean level, Indonesia at the SOMY meeting proposed and designated Indonesia as a permanent host in the Asean Youth Interfaith Camp (AIYC) activity which has been running for four years, where young leaders of the Asean religion met to build cooperation, dialogue about tolerance, inclusiveness and cooperation," concluded Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh.
