REJANG LEBONG - Rejang Lebong Resort Police (Polres) officer, Bengkulu, arrested one person suspected of trafficking in persons in the form of sexual exploitation of minors. Rejang Lebong Police Chief AKBP Juda Trisno Tampubolon said the perpetrator who was arrested was a widow with the initials NJ (40), a resident of Talang Rimbo Baru Village, Central Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency. "This suspect provides minors who do prostitution and then benefits from the suits and room rent provided in his house," he said at the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 27. The suspect NJ has been carrying out his profession as a pimp since two years ago. On June 12, 2023, at around 12.30 WIB, NJ was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Rejang Lebong Police. When arrested by officers at his rented house, NJ was with a 16-year-old girl and an adult man who was suspected of having sex transactions. For his actions, NJ was charged by investigating officers for violating Article 76I in conjunction with Article 88 of Law No. 35/2014 concerning Amendments to Law No.23/2002 concerning Child Protection, with a threat of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 200 million.
