2,779 Children In Karawang Still Suffer From Stunting

A total of 2,779 children in Karawang Regency suffered from stunting amid the massive stunting reduction program launched by the local government (Pemda).

Head of the Karawang Population and Family Planning Control Office, Sofiah, said the thousands of cases were based on the results of the balance in February 2023.

The stunting cases in the Karawang area are spread across almost all sub-districts around Karawang. However, the highest stunting cases were in Kotabaru District, as many as 341 children.

Meanwhile, in Pakisjaya District, Sofiah said, there were no cases of stunting reported.

Although thousands of stunting cases are still found, Sofiah said that from 2022 to 2023 there was a decrease in stunting cases in the Karawang area. The decline was from 20.6 percent to 14 percent.

Sofiah admitted that his party would continue to reduce the number of stunting cases, including involving 7 thousand accompanying teams and 5,637 family assistant teams in an effort to suppress stunting cases.

"The accompanying team, all of them moved to jointly pursue the zero stunting target in Karawang," he said in Karawang, West Java (West Java), Monday, June 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

The Regent of Karawang, Cellica Nurrachadiana said that all elements of society could participate in efforts to reduce the stunting rate to 8 percent.

"All families in Karawang must be stunted free for advanced Indonesia. We need the help of many parties, how can Karawang children grow and develop well, be healthy and smart," he said.

For this one, the Karawang Regency Government has a stunting father program which will be promoted again in the next few months, because the program is quite significant in reducing stunting rates.
