Visitors Often Use Islamic Sharia Violations, Joint Team Unloading Cafes In Suak Indrapuri Meulaboh

A joint team with personnel from the West Aceh Regency Satpol PP Service demolished a number of cafe buildings, located in the Suak Indrapuri/ANTARA Tourism Beach area.

JAKARTA - Civil Service Police Unit officers and Wilayatul Hisbah, West Aceh Regency, along with a joint team, police, TNI, military police, demolished a number of cafe buildings at tourist sites in the Suak Indrapuri area, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh. "We are carrying out this forced demolition as an effort to prevent violations of Islamic law at tourist sites," said Head of the Civil Service Police Unit and Wilayatul Hisbah, West Aceh Regency, Azim in Meulaboh, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 20. Previously, Satpol PP had tried to remind business owners to dismantle a number of buildings that were considered closed, and could potentially be misused by visitors. According to him, there were several stages carried out by the local government before demolishing the building, namely verbally reprimanding, officially writing to cafe owners and also calling business owners. Because the business owners who have been reprimanded did not heed the appeal from the local government, his party together with the joint team carried out control by trying to dismantle a number of stalls that had the potential to be misused by visitors. Azim said a number of cafes operating in the Suak Indrapuri area, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency have harmed the community and the region, because visitors are caught almost every day who are caught violating Islamic law which has long been in effect in Aceh. Although they often arrest sharia violators, his party rarely publishes them through the media because they maintain the good name of the region. Azim said the cafe wood that had been dismantled would be taken to the Final Disposal Site (TPA) belonging to the West Aceh Regency Government.

"We will continue to monitor cafe operational activities at a number of tourist sites, this is to prevent violations of Islamic law in West Aceh," said Azim.
