DI YOGYAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Yogyakarta Special Region (DI) arrested two suspected drug dealers of methamphetamine in the Yogyakarta-Central Java network.

Head of the DIY Provincial BNN Eradication and Intelligence Division Kombes Pol Arief Darmawan said the two suspected perpetrators with the initials I and DT were arrested in Boyolali Regency, Central Java on June 12, 2023. From the arrest, 80.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine were secured.

"The perpetrator with the initials I and the perpetrator with the initials DT along with the evidence have been brought by officers to the BNNP DIY Office for further investigation," said Arief in his statement in Yogyakarta, Thursday, June 15, which was confiscated by Antara.

Arief explained that the disclosure of the network began with the results of monitoring drug-prone areas in the DI Yogyakarta area and nightclubs some time ago.

BNNP DI Yogyakarta officers received information from the public that one of the visitors to the night entertainment with DY was suspected of abusing narcotics.

"Furthermore, DI Yogyakarta Provincial BNN officers conducted an undercover, surveillance, eliciting, and profiling of targets," he said.

Then on Monday, June 12 at around 19.00 WIB, DI Yogyakarta Provincial BNN officers examined DY, with methamphetamine positive urine results and then interrogated.

After the development was carried out, said Arief, the officers obtained the methamphetamine information obtained from the perpetrator with the initials I.

The DI Yogyakarta Provincial BNN officers then secured I along with another perpetrator with the initials DT at the boarding house in the Mojosongo District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java.

From the arrests of I and DT, the officers confiscated evidence in the form of 46 packages containing 65.5 grams of methamphetamine, along with communication tools, ATM cards, scales, aluminum foils, and methamphetamine documents.

After the interrogation and examination of the perpetrator's cell phone with the initials I, said Arief, information was obtained that there were 14 locations for the installation of methamphetamine packages that were ready to be circulated.

Of the 14 locations in Klaten and DI Regencies in Yogyakarta, officers secured evidence of methamphetamine in the form of small packages weighing 15.4 grams.

Furthermore, Arief explained that since January 2023 suspect I has bought 50-100 grams of crystal methamphetamine packages five times per package with the location of the collection around the Pajang area, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java.

Furthermore, perpetrator I broke the package into small packages and together with the perpetrators DT sold it by placing it in several locations that had been determined and promised a potential buyer.

According to him, perpetrator I sent the money from the sale of the methamphetamine to the supplier with the initials RO, who is still being chased by the police.

"Perpetrator I got the profit of each sale of 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine worth Rp. 8 million. In addition, the perpetrators also consumed some of the narcotics packages together," said Arief.

According to him, the perpetrators were charged with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion.
