Thugs In The JIexpo Ajang PRJ Set Tariffs: IDR 5 Thousand For Transportation Service Providers, IDR 20 Thousand For Visitors

JAKARTA - Road shoulder in the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) area of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta is still crowded with illegal parking of motorized vehicles, be it two-wheeled, three-wheeled to four-wheeled vehicles. The annual Jakarta Fair or Jakarta Raya Week (PRJ) is used by a number of people collecting illegal levies from unofficial parking services.

From the confession of one of the unofficial parking service users, he said he was willing to pay a sum of money to thugs to get a base to look for passengers.

"Pay 5 thousand every day during the Jakarta Raya Week. If you don't want to give 5 thousand, you'll be kicked out immediately," said one of the men who was reluctant to mention his name, Thursday, June 15.

He also mentioned that his party paid the money to thugs who controlled the area outside the JIExpo Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta.

"Anyway, the important thing (paid to) the thugs. Parking (motor) outside PRJ is 20 thousand," he said.

Previously reported, the problem of the existence of illegal parking at the Jakarta Fair 2023 event or Jakarta Raya Week outside the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) area of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta is still difficult to eradicate from year to year.

The lack of official parking bags is often used by a number of individuals to take advantage by holding illegal parking vehicles on the shoulders of public roads.

"All (parking vehicles) should be inside (JIexpo)," said Head of the Traffic and Transportation Operational Control Section of the Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Haryo Bagus Kusuma Dewa when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, June 14.
