Malaysia To Take Action On Parties Conspiracy With The Sulu Group

JAKARTA - The Malaysian government will take action against any party, including its citizens who provide support and assistance or conspired with the Sulu group, said Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur.

"I emphasize that the government will not hesitate to take action against any party, including Malaysian citizens who provide support, assistance or are involved in direct or indirect conspiracy with the Sulu group if it involves the interests and sovereignty of Malaysia, Sabah and the Malaysian people as a whole," Anwar said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.

He conveyed this affirmation in the second meeting of the 15th People's Council, where he also said that all payments issued by Arbiter Dr Gonzalo Stampa had violated international public policy because it involved violating the principle of diplomatic immunity, jurisdictional immunity and sovereignty.

Anwar Ibrahim said the Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) had also investigated the plaintiffs, namely eight Filipinos who claimed to be the heirs of the Sultan of Sulu, arbitrarys, lawyers and related parties under Article 124K of the Criminal Code for sabotage violations.

Anwar said the plaintiff had taken legal action against Malaysia in four countries, namely Spain, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

The Malaysian government, according to him, has also taken and is taking various legal action against them.

The result of the effort, namely on June 6, the appeals court canceled an implementation order issued by a French court on September 29, 2021, which recognized the Preliminary Award issued by Dr. Gonzala Stampa on May 25, 2020.

According to him, Malaysia is also awaiting a decision by the Dutch appeals court regarding a request by the Sulu group to recognize and enforce the final verdict in the Netherlands which is expected to be issued on June 27.
