Sandiaga Lapor To Jokowi Joins PPP

Acting Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhamad Mardiono said Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno had consulted with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) before deciding to join PPP.

He emphasized that the consultation was not a joke in practical politics. This is a form of Sandi's state politics to President Jokowi.

"That the context of chaos is related to Pak Sandiaga's coordination or maybe I as the general chairman is not in a practical political context. But that what is coordinated or communicated with the President is in the context of state politics," said Mardiono as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.

Mardiono explained that the position of PPP was in a government coalition led by President Jokowi. Even so, he felt it was natural for Sandi to consult President Jokowi to determine his political direction.

"Well, what is said in terms of fussyness is in the task of being president and head of state. So we have to separate this, yes, but it's not a practical political issue, because in practical politics, of course, this president must be neutral," added Mardiono.

On the other hand, Mardiono said that in state politics the president as head of state has an obligation for everything held by this country, including elections.

He did not deny that a president as head of state and head of government did not participate in election matters.

"That's impossible, because the president is in charge," said Mardiono.

Meanwhile, Sandiaga Uno confirmed his communication with President Jokowi. In fact, Sandiaga admitted that he had reported to President Jokowi that he had been determined to join PPP.

"Yes, I have received, I have consulted, I have reported to the President, and my struggle is hard work, work is complete, and sincere work," said Sandiaga.
