JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo officially opened the oldest and largest exhibition in the Southeast Asia region, the Jakarta Fair 2023, at JI-Expo Kemayoran.
The official opening of the Jakarta Fair was marked by the beating of a drum followed by a festive fireworks display.
"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, tonight I officially open the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023," said President Jokowi at the JI Expo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.
President Jokowi arrived at the main stage area at around 19.10 WIB accompanied by Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
President Jokowi, who wore black and brown batik, was welcomed by guests and ambassadors from friendly countries.
A number of Indonesian Onward Cabinet Ministers also attended the opening of the event, namely the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of BPN Hadi Tjahjanto and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
In his remarks, President Jokowi said that the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran is always awaited by Jakarta residents and it marks the anniversary of DKI Jakarta which falls on June 22 or next week.
The Head of State said that this year's Jakarta Fair entered its 54th implementation.
"Last year it was visited by 6.9 million visitors with a transaction of IDR 7.3 trillion. A number that is not small. Therefore, on this auspicious occasion I would like to wish Jakarta a happy 496th birthday," said the President.
The Jakarta Fair or the Jakarta Fair (PRJ) Kemayoran, will be held for 33 days which will be open from 14 June to 16 July 2023 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Marketing Director of JI Expo Kemayoran Ralph Scheunemann said that this year's Jakarta Fair Kemayoran was attended by 2,500 participating companies consisting of 1,500 booths that exhibited various superior products at discounted prices.
