Malaysian-France Foreign Minister Meets In Paris To Discuss Stability Of The South China Sea

JAKARTA - Malaysian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Zambry Abd Kadir and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna met in Paris.

The two discussed various issues including ensuring the stability and security of the Indo-Pacific region, the South China Sea and ASEAN.

In a statement via social media on Sunday, June 4, Zambry said his visit program in Paris was incomplete if he did not meet his colleague Minister Colonna.

He said he had voiced Malaysia's views on regional and international issues of common interest, so that the two countries could play an important role on multilateral platforms.

"This includes ensuring the stability and security of conserved areas, especially those related to the Indo-Pacific region, the South China Sea and ASEAN," said Zambry, quoted by Antara.

In addition to discussing efforts to increase bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the education, defense, investment, health sector, according to Zambry, they also mapped the direction and collaboration that had a bigger impact and benefited the economy of the two countries, especially in the green economy, digital, and renewable energy.

He said the two of them had also discussed the recognition and position of the French Government regarding the sovereignty and integrity of the Malaysian territory based on internationally recognized boundaries.

According to him, the results of the working visit, the two countries were able to maintain positive momentum, strengthen and strengthen bilateral relations that had existed between Malaysia and France and increase efforts in this direction.
