JAKARTA - One by one the leaders of countries and international organizations in the world congratulate Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after winning the second round of the Turkish Presidential Election on Sunday, hoping to continue cooperation and good relations with Ankara.

World leaders took advantage of social media and public platforms to offer their congratulations and support for President Erdogan.

Included in those who offered their congratulations and support were the leaders of Russia and the United States who were involved in tensions over the invasion of Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden on Sunday congratulated President Erdogan on his victory in the second round of the Turkish presidential election.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his "friend" Erdogan, saying that the victory was proof that the Turkish people valued President Erdogan's independent foreign policy.

"The election victory is a natural result of your selfless work as the head of the Republic of Turkey, a clear proof of the support of the Turkish people for your efforts to strengthen the country's sovereignty and carry out an independent foreign policy," Putin said in a message to Erdogan, according to the Kremlin.

"We highly appreciate your personal contribution to strengthening friendly Russian-Turkish relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields," Putin said.

Putin also said he attaches great importance to joint projects such as the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, which is being built by Russia's state energy group Rosatom, and a gas center proposed by Putin in Turkey.

From Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Erdogan on his re-election, saying: "We will continue to move forward together."

From the Arab and Middle East regions, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed congratulated President Erdogan on President Erdogan's victory.

"Looking forward to working together to further enhance the strategic partnership between our two countries," he said.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his congratulations, described President Erdogan as "one of the few world leaders whose politics is anchored in public service."

"Dear brother, congratulations on your victory, and I wish you success in your new term of office, and that you achieve in it what our Turkish brothers aspire to in terms of progress and prosperity," tweeted Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Twitter.
