Makassar KPU Finds 23 Double Bacaleg Names From A Number Of Political Parties

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Makassar City, South Sulawesi found 23 names of candidates for double legislative candidates for the Makassar City DPRD from a number of political parties for the 2024 General Election.

"So far, 23 cases of double balaleg have been found for the Makassar City DPRD legislative reading. Of the 23 bahaleg doubles, there are 10 cases including internal doubles, and 13 cases of external doubles," said Makassar KPU member in charge of Technical Deviation and the Implementation of Gunawan Mashard, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.

The internal doubles in question are the doubles that occur in one party, but the names are registered in two electoral districts, or two representative institutions.

He gave an example, one name of baulaleg in party A, was proposed in Makassar City in Electoral Area (Dapil) 1, but his name was also proposed in different regencies and cities but one region of South Sulawesi Province.

As for the external doubles, Gunawan continued, are doubles in different parties. For example, one name of balaleg in party A was proposed in Makassar City in electoral district 1, but was proposed again by party B at the provincial DPRD level, and others.

However, from a number of initial findings in this case, his party continues to carry out the administrative verification process of the Bahaleg requirements document so that it does not become a problem in the future when determining the list of permanent candidates or DCT.

"Vermin is still being carried out by the Makassar City KPU during the completion of the stage. Then the file repair period will enter." said the former chairman of AJI Makassar explaining.

The KPU has not been able to convey the 23 names of the double balaleg because the process of vermining the leg requirements document is still ongoing from May 15 to June 23, 2023.

"Not yet possible, because the vermin process is still ongoing. Notifications to the party will be made after the vermin is complete, and enter a period of improvement," he explained.
