SURABAYA - The Indonesian "Accultate Research and Consulting" (ARCI) survey institute conducted a 2024 Presidential Election simulation with three candidates in East Java.

As a result, Prabowo Subianto had the highest electability in East Java ahead of Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan.

"The results of the simulation of three candidates, Prabowo's electability in East Java were 29.7 percent, then Ganjar Pranowo 28.5 percent and Anies Baswedan 15.2 percent. As many as 23.3 percent of respondents did not answer," said ARCI Director Baihaki Sirajt in Surabaya as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

The survey was conducted on April 25-4 May 2023 using the multistage random sampling method with a sample of 1,249 respondents spread proportionally in 38 districts/cities of East Java. The margin of error from the survey was 2.8 percent and the confidence level was 95 percent.

Baihaki also explained that Prabowo's vote was evenly distributed in several sectors of voters, of which Prabowo was a figure chosen by many East Java Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) residents, namely 31.06 percent, or ahead of Ganjar by 30.01 percent and Anies Baswedan 18.4 percent.

"There are as many as 20.5 percent of Nahdliyin respondents who have not made a choice," said Baihaki.

In the survey of Presidential Candidates top of mind, Baihaki said Prabowo was also still ahead with 17.7 percent, then Ganjar Pranowo 17.3 percent, Anies Baswedan 11.9 percent and Mahfud MD 9.7 percent.

"But as many as 43.3 percent of respondents still have not made a choice," he said.

Baihaki said that when it was simulated with figures from East Java, namely Mahfud MD and Khofifah Indar Parawansa, with three and four candidates, Prabowo remained superior.

"Although Ganjar has been nominated by PDIP, Prabowo's electability in East Java is still superior. The main factor is that Nahdliyin has been elected quite a lot," he said.
