The Surpres For The Asset Confiscation Bill Has Been Accepted By The DPR

JAKARTA - Secretary General (Secretary General) of the DPR Indra Iskandar said the presidential letter (surpres) regarding the Draft Law (RUU) on the Confiscation of Criminal Assets had been received by the DPR on Thursday (4/5).

"Yes, that's right, the DPR has received the presidential decree on May 4," said Indra, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

He explained that because currently the DPR is still in recess, discussions will be held at the opening of the trial period on Tuesday, May 16.

"After Rapim, he was taken to the Bamus Meeting for assignment to the AKD (board equipment) which was assigned and reported in advance in the Plenary Meeting," he said.

The Criminal Asset Confiscation Bill has been included in the 2023 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) as part of the Government's proposal.

Previously, Friday (5/5), Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said President Joko Widodo had officially submitted a presidential decree to the Indonesian House of Representatives through two letters on Thursday (4/5).

"So now the Government as of May 4, 2023, the President has issued two letters. One Presidential letter to the DPR which is accompanied by the Draft Law on Asset Confiscation in Criminal Acts," said Mahfud.

The second letter, he continued, was that President Jokowi assigned representatives of the Government, namely four ministerial-level officials who would discuss the Bill on the Confiscation of Criminal Assets together with the DPR.

"Those are two ministers. One, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs; second, Minister of Law and Human Rights; the third ministerial-level official is the Attorney General; the fourth ministerial-level official is the National Police Chief," said Mahfud.
