KMP Royce 1 Burns In Merak, Source Of Fire Allegedly From Bus

MERAK - PT. DlB's KMP Royce 1 ferry caught fire while sailing from Merak Harbor, Banten, to Bakauheni Port, Lampung.

Head of the Banten SAR Office Adil Triyanto said temporary information was reported after the ship crossed Tempurung Island via VTS Merak and was forwarded to the Banten Basarnas.

The ferry fire incident occurred at 15.08 WIB.

The evacuation process was carried out by a joint SAR team consisting of overcoming Basarnas, Banten Lanal, Banten Polairud, Banten KPLP, BPTD, ASDP Merak, PMI, and local fishermen.

However, at 17.30 WIB, the ferry fire was successfully extinguished by the joint team.

For the time being, the number of passengers is still being collected by officers.

It is suspected that the source of the fire came from a bus that caught fire, "The bus inside the ship caught fire", he said.
