Heavy Rain, Motorcyclists Died Covered In Landslides In Wonosobo

High-intensity rain caused landslides in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that as a result of the disaster, one motorcyclist died buried in the ground.

Another impact is that landslides damaged two residents' houses and were heavily damaged. Two families or six people were affected and forced to flee to relatives' places.

Abdul continued that after receiving the incident report, the local BPBD together with other relevant agencies immediately carried out emergency handling, especially evacuation and ensuring that residents whose houses were heavily damaged were handled properly.

The local government has also deployed heavy equipment to assist district roads that are covered by landslide material. This is based on the weather forecast of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) if on Sunday, April 30, the Wonosobo Regency area still has the opportunity to rain with light intensity to heavy rain.

Meanwhile, based on a study by the Geological Agency in April, Central Mojo District is one of the areas with the potential for medium to high categories of ground movement.

In the inaRISK analysis, the sub-district also includes 15 sub-districts in Wonosobo Regency with the potential for moderate to high landslide hazards.

Therefore, BNPB urges local governments and residents to always be aware of the potential dangers of wet hydrometeorology, such as floods, landslides, and strong winds.
