Ministry Of Home Affairs: No Fire, Only Smoke From Computer Short Circuit

JAKARTA - Head of the Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Benni Irwan said that no fire broke out at the Ministry of Home Affairs building, Jakarta, but only smoke from the computer had a short circuit.

"Only smoke from the computer was short. There was no fire," said Benni, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 28.

The smoke initially appeared to come out of Building B, 6th Floor, Ministry of Home Affairs Building at around 20.00 WIB. When he saw the smoke, he continued, the employee on guard immediately called the fire department to anticipate if there was a fire.

There are 10 units of fire engines deployed to deal with puffs of smoke in the building located on Jalan Merdeka Utara Number 7, Central Jakarta.

After firefighters arrived at the Ministry of Home Affairs building, Benni continued, it was known that the smoke came from a computer that had a short circuit.

"Maybe because (the computer) hasn't been turned off for a long time," said Benni.

Regarding the latest developments at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benni emphasized that the smoke was no longer there.

"The smoke is gone. It is currently being tidied up so that there is no other potential, maybe while doing the cleaning," he said.
