Settlement Of Cases Of Counterfeiting QRIS, Legal Experts Value The Importance Of BI, ASPI And OJK Involvement

JAKARTA - Law expert at Jenderal Sudirman University (Unsoed) Purwokerto Hibnu Nugroho assesses that the case of counterfeiting the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) charity box that occurred in South Jakarta must be handled seriously so that it does not happen again.

"The handling of this case must involve a number of parties responsible for the development of QRIS," he said in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, Wednesday, April 12, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, QRIS is an Indonesian payment system developed by Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) so it must be involved in handling the case.

He said the handling also needed to involve the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as the supervisor of financial services, as well as the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

"Everything is most responsible for securing the application that is being developed," he said.

He said it needed to be done so that the public's intention not to do good by making donations but through QRIS-based charity boxes, it turned out that irresponsible groups like what happened in South Jakarta were misused.

In the case in South Jakarta, the QRIS-based official charity box sticker is replaced by a fake charity box sticker equipped with a QR Code like QRIS.

However, the account number connected to the fake QRIS is not a mosque account but a personal account of the perpetrator.

Regarding the legal entanglement for the perpetrators, Hibnu said it could use Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions because it is included in cyber crimes that use information technology.

"Including, it can be deposited with the Criminal Code for general crimes in the form of forgery," he explained.

The Professor of the Unsoed Faculty of Law said efforts to ward off QRIS forgery could be carried out by optimizing the Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

In addition, he said, socialization is needed related to the QRIS problem in order to increase public literacy.

"The state must be present in terms of socialization, literacy, use, and security of QRIS," he said.
