PAPUA - Sorong Police have arrested four suspects in drug cases. They were arrested in a recent concentrated operation.

"Three suspects each with the initials KD, SY and DZ with different narcotics from each other. The three suspects are part of a series of drug case investigations," said Sorong Police Chief (Kapolres) AKBP Yohanes Agustiandaru in Sorong, Papua, Friday, April 7, confiscated by Antara.

The police chief explained that the arrests began with information showing the sale of marijuana-type narcotics on March 24, 2023.

"From the information obtained, our members immediately moved and succeeded in arresting KD with 37 small white paper packages suspected of being marijuana," he said.

He said, from these results the team carried out further development so that on Saturday, March 25, 2023, the team arrested the suspect with the initials SY.

From SY's hands, the police secured evidence in the form of two medium-sized clear plastics and one large clear plastic suspected of containing marijuana.

On the same day, continued the Police Chief, the team again arrested another suspect with the initials DZ with evidence in the form of one large plastic, one small white paper pack, one medium-sized clear plastic and three large clear plastics suspected of being marijuana.

He then mentioned the total evidence that was secured from the three suspects, which was 651.91 grams of marijuana.

He added that the article imposed on the suspects, the Chief of Police said that Article 114 paragraph 1, junto Article 112 paragraph 1, junto Article 127 paragraph 1 letter A of Law number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics carries a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years and a fine of at least 1 billion or a maximum of 10 billion.
