199 Residents In Palangka Raya Affected By Floods Of Kahayan River, Transportation Access Use Klotok

PALANGKA RAYA - Kahayan River Water in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) overflowed, causing dozens of houses around the riverbanks to be flooded. Head of Prevention and Preparedness of the Palangka Raya City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Heri Fauzi said 58 houses were submerged in the overflow of the Kahayan River. "What was recorded by our team while monitoring was 58 houses, 58 families (KK) and 199 people affected by the flood that submerged residential areas in the Jalan Danau Rangas area, Palangka Raya City," he said in Palangka Raya, Antara, Tuesday, April 4. On Jalan Pelaut, Palangka Village, Jekan Raya District, he continued, dozens of houses were also submerged in water. Meanwhile, on Jalan Anoi and Jalan Mendawai, the water level reaches 5-70 centimeters and the length of the road is about 500 meters submerged. Some residents' houses in the area have also begun to be submerged. On Jalan Petuk Katimpun, Petuk Katimpun Village, the water level reached 5-70 centimeters and the road was submerged with 1,300 meters of water. Meanwhile, seven units of residents' houses were submerged due to flooding with a height of 20-25 centimeters. Even access to public transportation today must use a boat or klotok, while four- and two-wheeled vehicles cannot pass. "Water has inundated the yard of residents' houses as well as public facilities and connecting road access, dozens of houses have also been submerged in water. This is strongly suspected to be due to high rainfall and high water sent from upstream, to rising water discharge as it is today," he said. Flood disasters like this are always experienced every year by residents in lowland areas and settlements along the Kahayan River. One of them is the area of the Social Housing Complex, Mendawai, Sakan, Anoi Street and Pelautuk in Palangka Village. Meanwhile, in Bukit Tunggal Village on Jalan Danau Rangas and residential areas located on Petuk Katimpun Street, Petuk Katimpun Village, floods were also submerged, even the road was cut off and could not be passed using two- and four-wheeled vehicles.
