BPBD Pamekasan Sets Flood Alert Status

PAMEKASAN - The Pamekasan Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), East Java, has declared a flood alert status following the high inundation of river water due to heavy rains that flushed in the northern region of Pamekasan, from noon to evening.

According to the Pamekasan Regency BPBD Junior Disaster Analyst Budi Cahyono, the flood alert was determined because the height of the stagnant water in a number of flood monitoring dams had exceeded the maximum threshold.

"The flood monitoring point for Pamekasan City is the five dams in Pamekasan," Budi said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 24.

He said, as of 18.23 WIB, the height of the inundation at the Samiran Dam had reached 130 cm, and the Klampar Dam was 70 cm. Blumbungan Dam 60 cm and Bulay Dam 10 cm.

In addition, the flow of water in a number of rivers that pass through Pamekasan City, such as the Samiran River, Kelisemajid River, Sinhaji, and the inundation of Gurem Bridge and Patemon Bridge is observed to be getting higher.

"Because of that, we immediately set an alert status and deployed officers from the Pamekasan Regency BPBD and disaster management volunteers to carry out monitoring of a number of rivers in Pamekasan," he said.

In addition to monitoring, BPBD Pemkab Pamekasan also delivered direct outreach to residents living along the river to increase awareness.
