Coldplay Concert Promoters Talk About Ticket Duplications That Cause Spectators Not To Enter Concert Areas

JAKARTA - Harry Sudarma, co-founder of PK Entertainment as the promoter of the Coldplay Music of The Spheres World Tour concert in Jakarta, talked about ticket duplications carried out by brokers.

This is considered to be the cause of many spectators who cannot enter the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) to witness the performance of the British band.

Speaking on the Kemenparekraf YouTube channel (starting at 02.10), Harry Sudarma said the problem was a tough challenge that his party had to do.

"Regarding brokers or secondary ticketing, indeed, this is one of the biggest problems or challenges we face on concert day. Because of that alone, according to the news, 2,286 tickets were sold only with 39 tickets," said Harry Sudarma, Tuesday, November 21.

"So, we can imagine that thousands of people who tried to enter but could not enter because their tickets were detected with duplication and the original ticket had been entered and the person had been scanned," he continued.

Then, Harry also talked about the condition of the queue piled up at the entrance which caused the organizers to decide to relax the process of entering the audience into the concert area.

"So that was also what yesterday in the process had made a bit of delay from the entry of the audience, and yes, we had time to do an assessment because the situation had started to be less conducive, with a long queue so that finally discussions with the authorities and management. Finally, we decided that within 10 minutes we only did a visual check so that the flow from ticket buyers and spectators could come in faster," said Harry Sudarma.

Harry said that the number of people who bought tickets from intermediaries or brokers made SUGBK's condition ahead of the concert very unfavorable.

He said the access gate to SUGBK was closed around 21.20 or 20 minutes after Coldplay appeared. And this is what makes people who have purchased tickets through the correct procedures have to be affected.

"That also causes over time and the increasing number of people who buy tickets from brokers, the situation is not conducive and there was a physical violence that was launched on the team from ticketing and also the security team. So we also consult with the management and also the authorities. Finally, it was decided that around 21.20 or 21.25 WIB, we finally closed the gate," said Harry Sudarma.

"So there are indeed some people who buy tickets officially through what we call a ticket war, in the end they can't enter because the door is indeed closed," he concluded.
