BMW Launches Urban Electric Motorcycle For IDR 115 Million

JAKARTA - Many manufacturers are competing to create electric vehicles to achieve carbon neutrality in the coming years. Not only car manufacturers, two-wheeled vehicle manufacturers also participated in this effort.

Not as massive as a four-wheeled vehicle, several motorcycle manufacturers have become interested in this segment and have launched their products to the market. One of them is BMW Motorrad.

Recently, the manufacturer officially launched a light electric motorcycle with the most advanced futuristic design and technology called CE 02.

BMW explained that electric motorcycles, also known as eParkourers, are specially designed for young people as an urban means of transportation.

According to Electrek, on Saturday, July 8, Edgar cap, head of BMW Motorrad design, stated that the vehicle weighs 132 kg and is mostly designed as an urban playbike.

"With CE 02, we want to create something new at BMW Motorrad and become a pioneer once again. With an unusual proportion and a striking design, CE 02 is a simple but young form of single-track mobility," said Edgar.

This electric motorcycle has electricity capable of reaching a maximum speed of 95 km/hour, enough to meet the needs of driving in urban and suburban areas.

Equipped with a pair of batteries with a total capacity of 3.92 kWh, CE 02 has a maximum range of up to 90 km. This motorbike also supports offboard level 1 charging, similar to electric bikes.

This motorbike can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in about 5 hours with a standard charging capacity of 0.9 kW. However, with a battery charging of 1.5 kW, this motor can be fully charged within 3.5 hours.

To improve performance, BMW completed CE 02 with one-sided back-wing arms, inverted front fork, disk-style cast wheels, key keyless, customizable handbrake levers, backward teeth, and USB-C ports for mobile-like device charging.

With the various advantages and advanced technologies provided to meet the needs of urban communities, BMW Mototrad sells CE 02 at a price of 7,599 US dollars or around Rp115 million.
