Motivated Toyota Presents More Powered Prius

JAKARTA - The fifth generation of Toyota Prius received a different positive response from the previous generation, thanks to its impressive design and performance. However, the high performance division of Gazoo Racing (GR) is not satisfied and plans to further improve this model.

The latest news indicates that Toyota plans to launch a version of the Prius GRMN, which will have higher performance than the standard GR model. Not only that, this car is also expected to be equipped with a more advanced Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) system to improve its aerodynamics.

Reporting from Best Car magazine, Friday, October 6, this Prius will be equipped with a more powerful engine than the currently available 2.0 liter PHEV engine. Thus, this subcompact sedan is expected to have more than 220 dk of power.

As the highest variant, it is hoped that this car will become the most powerful in the Prius series, generating power up to 302 dk, as produced by RAV4 Prime.

In addition to improving engine performance, the division also plans to make changes to the suspension in order to create more impressive controls, supported by a stronger braking system than usual. The increase in the stiffness of the TNGA platform will also be the main focus, which will be achieved through the welding of additional points and the use of new adhesives.

The Japanese manufacturer also has plans to introduce a six-speed manual gearbox simulation originally designed for electric vehicles. This high-tech system has the potential to increase the sensation and sound of powertrain electrification on PHEV.

Although there has been no further confirmation, the GRMN Prius is expected to adopt a body kit or get inspiration from the concept of a GR Prius Concept introduced at 24 Hours Le Mans at the end of last May. However, the manufacturer will make some changes in it.

Automotive enthusiasts must be patient in waiting for the arrival of this model, as Toyota has not provided further details about this highest-powered Prius. The public will have to wait until at least 2024 to welcome him.
