All-New Renault Scenic E-Tech, Environmentally Friendly Family Car With Top Level Comfort

Renault, one of France's leading automakers, officially introduced the latest SCenic E-Tech family electric car at the 2023 IAA Munich Motor Show which is currently underway.

The All-New Scenic E-Tech is the first SCenic model to carry electric propulsion technology. The car was built at the Renault factory, Douai ElectricCity, North France.

Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive explained that the All-New Scenic E-Tech inherited the tradition of the SCenic model that has existed since 1996, which has always highlighted comfort as a long-distance vehicle.

"This offers a great interior space, while retaining compact dimensions, abundant natural light, high level of comfort, and advanced connectivity," Cambolive said in the company's media space, Monday, September 4.

As an electric SUV, the All-New Renault Scenic E-Tech has a large dimension, with a length of 4,470 mm, a width of 1,864 mm, a height of 1,571 mm, and a trunk room with a capacity of 545 liters, weighing about 1,842 kg.

Renault Scenic E-Tech has a five-seater configuration with flat floors, and is equipped with a practical backhand and storage space.

The dashboard is equipped with a 12.3-inch TFT behind the steering wheel, and a 12-inch mid-screen that provides more than 50 apps of access. This infotainment system has also been integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both with cables and wirelessly.

In terms of safety, this electric car is equipped with 30 driver assistance features and safety features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Stop & Go, and Lane Centering.

In addition to producing zero emissions, almost all parts of Renault Scenic E-Tech also use environmentally friendly materials, such as panoramic glass roofs made of 50 percent recycled materials.

The iron component in this car is made from 37 percent recycled material, while the hoods and doors are made from recycled aluminum up to 40 percent. Renault also implements a closed loop system where waste material is processed, compressed, and shipped back to suppliers, which is then reused in production lines.

The use of recycled materials is also applied to car interiors, with 80 percent recycled materials on dashboards, 26 percent in the cockpit, carpets made of recycled plastic up to 97 percent, and headlining made of 99.5 percent recycled plastic bottles.

Scenic E-Tech comes in two variants, the first is a standard variant with electric motors at the front that generate up to 170 dk of power and 280 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h within 9.3 seconds, with a top speed of 150 km/hour. This variant is equipped with a 60 kWh battery that can provide a range of up to 420 km, and supports dc fast charging with a magnitude of more than 130 kW.

While the highest variant offers a 220 dk electric motor and a 300 Nm torque, capable of reaching speeds 0-100 km/h within 8.4 seconds, with a top speed of 170 km/hour. The highest version of the SCenic E-Tech is equipped with an 87 kWh battery that provides a distance of up to 620 km, and supports dc fast charging of more than 150 kW.

The SUV uses the CMF-EV platform, which is the same as that used by Renault Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya. Renault plans to market the SCenic E-Tech in early 2024.
