GM Releases Three-row Cadillac Escalade IQ Luxury Electric SUV 2025, Its Dimensions and Power Make All Competitors Small

JAKARTA - After hinting at the presence of the latest three-row SUV model last June, General Motors (GM) has finally officially introduced the Escalade IQ 2025 as the first electric-powered SUV in the line of iconic and luxury models from the Cadillac brand.

Just like the conventional-engined model, this car comes with ample rigidity and dimensions, but emphasizes the luxury and elegance typical of Cadillac leveled up cars.

However, comparisons with previous models are not just limited to design. The Cadillac Escalade IQ underwent an extensive transformation, including improved interior, technology and luxury features.

Cadillac Global Vice President, John Roth, explained that Cadillac is making changes to the Escalade as their first step in entering a new era of electric vehicles to come.

“For more than 120 years, Cadillac's bold spirit of innovation has defined the standard of luxury in America. Escalade IQ represents this spirit with unparalleled sophistication," said Roth in a company statement, Wednesday, August 9.

When viewed from the specifications, the Escalade IQ has undergone a number of striking exterior changes compared to its predecessor. With dimensions of 5,697 mm in length, 2,389 mm in width, 1,934 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,460 mm, the Cadillac Escalade IQ offers a wider and more comfortable space for vehicle users.

Using GM's platform called the Ultium, this car carries a bold design with a new identity for the manufacturer's electric vehicle. As previously hinted at, the front of the car features a closed grille with horizontal LED lights extending downwards, with a prominent Cadillac logo in the center. With this design, this car has a similar feel to other EV models such as the Celestiq and Lyriq.

At the rear, there is a small rear wing that hangs above the roof, as well as horizontal red taillights at the ends. Not to forget, there is a panoramic glass roof that adds to the beauty of this car.

Due to its large size, the Escalade IQ SUV is equipped with 24-inch diameter wheels with 35-inch tires designed to fill the inflated space inside the wheels. Escalade IQ also has independent suspension on both sides, front and rear, and an eAWD drive system.

The inside of this car is also enhanced with a touch of Escalade-style luxury. Inspired by the world of architecture and luxury style, the Escalade IQ combines luxury with comfort, as well as advanced technology previously introduced in the Cadillac Celestiq.

There is also a 55-inch diagonal LED screen on the instrument panel, which is powered by the latest chip from Qualcomm. This allows the driver to access various information from this system. This LED display combines the instrument cluster with the center touchscreen.

In addition, Escalade IQ comes with a panoramic roof that has been updated to provide a new experience and comfort on long-distance trips. The audio system is also enhanced by the presence of a 40-speaker AKG Studio system installed in the second row.

Escalade IQ is also integrated with the OnStar system, which includes various features ranging from safety, entertainment, comfort, to assistive technology such as Super Cruise.

One other interesting thing is the power source. The Cadillac Escalade IQ is equipped with two permanent magnet type electric motors capable of producing 680 hp and 834 Nm of torque in Normal mode. This power can be increased to 750 hp and 1,064 Nm of torque in Velocity mode.

This three-row SUV is also equipped with a large-capacity battery, namely 200 kWh lithium-ion, which allows this car to drive on pure electric power for more than 724 km on a single charge. Well, to note the GMC Hummer EV SUV also uses a similar battery pack and because of this the Hummer EV weighs up to 4 tons.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ is also equipped with advanced car-to-home (V2H) features that can supply electrical energy from the car to the owner's home. GM will begin regular production of the Escalade IQ next summer at GM's plant in Michigan, United States.

Prices start at USD 130,000 or around IDR 1.9 billion or are in the same range as the Tesla Model X, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Rivian R1S, and Gravity Lucid prices.
