JAKARTA - Polestar, an automotive manufacturer from Sweden, has announced the price for its newest sedan, Polestar 2 2024, for the US market. The model underwent several changes ranging from exterior to performance.
According to a report from InsideEVs, June 13, Polestar 2 comes in two variants, namely Long Range Single Motor and Long Range Dual Motor. And as a subsidiary of Volvo, Polestar 2 uses the same latest generation electric motors and inverters as Volvo XC40 and C40 Recharge, which offers increased efficiency and performance in cars.
For the Long Range Single Motor variant with RWD driving, the latest permanent magnetic electric motor and silicon carbide inverter are implanted, providing 295 dk of power and 489 Nm of torque. This makes Polestar 2 faster and more powerful compared to the previous model, so that this variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in about 5.9 seconds.
This variant is also equipped with the latest 82 kWh battery pack, which provides a range of up to 515 km in one charge according to EPA calculations.
Meanwhile, the highest variant, namely the Long Range Dual Motor, is equipped with two new electric motors that offer more power and torque than the previous variant. With this dual electric motor, Polestar 2 can produce a combined power of up to 415 dk and a torque of 739 Nm, so that it can reach acceleration from 0 to 100 km/hour in about 4.3 seconds.
This variant has a range of about 276 km using the same battery capacity as its predecessor, namely 78 kWh. Polestar will start shipping these cars in the US in August 2023.
