JAKARTA - PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has released the latest model to complete the ranks of their SUV segment, All-New Yaris Cross for the Indonesian automotive market.

The mid-range SUV was launched with two variants, namely Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and gasoline (ICE) engines. This is also a manufacturer's step in running the carbon neutrality program in Indonesia for the future.

With a compact and solid design, the All-New Yaris Cross is equipped with a 1,500 cc 4-cylinder engine. For the HEV variant, this car is equipped with an electric motor that when combined can generate 111 dk of power, as well as a lithium-ion battery that optimizes the distance to the car.

Meanwhile, the gasoline machine variant is offered with 106 dk of power and 138 Nm of torque accompanied by impressive performance from the manual transmission of five accelerations and CVT which can save fuel use.

"For the price, we have not been able to provide detailed information. However, what we can provide is around Rp. 300 million to more than Rp. 400 million," said Henry Tanoto, Vice President of PT TAM during a question and answer session with reporters at the launch of the All-New Yaris Cross in Kuningan, Jakarta.

Marketing Director of PT TAM, Anton Jimmi Suwandi, said the average car sales in Indonesia were in the range of IDR 500 million. This is what makes it want to enter the segment with the All-New Yaris Cross.

"The segmentation in Indonesia is an average of less than IDR 500 million of 75 percent. Maybe the figures of IDR 300 million could be large," Anton said when interviewed a few moments after the launch of the All-New Yaris Cross.

Instead of worrying about price friction with other models of Toyota, Anton said that the launch of Yaris Cross actually increased the number of Toyota markets.

"So I think this will provide consumers with options. There will be price friction with Yaris before, there will definitely be. We just predict this will increase the number of markets," added Anton.

As an illustration, competitors from All-New Yaris Cross, Honda HR-V are priced from IDR 375.9 million to the highest variant of IDR 529.9 million.
