Ario Bayu Admits It's Not Difficult To Fall In Love With Dian Sastrowardoyo

JAKARTA - Ario Bayu is one of the actors who played the role of the Kretek Girl series. She plays Soeraja, a man who likes Dian Sastrowardoyo.

"I play Soeraja where Soeraja is someone who has a dark past. He is an orphan who has no passion for life. But, for the first time in his life he was able to find love," said Ario Bayu at a press conference in Menteng, Central Jakarta on November 1.

According to Ario, there was no big burden when playing the character of Ratih Kumala's book. He felt that he was supported by various aspects like his co-stars.

"There is a social similarity that we exiled. I try to simulate its sensitivity in this character," explained Ario Bayu.

"But besides that I have an amazing co-actor, an amazing director and showrunner. Challenges aren't that much but I want to play as much appreciation as possible," he added.

Talking about his co-stars, Ario Bayu admitted that he was amazed by Dian Sastrowardoyo. Both have known each other for a long time so it is not difficult to establish character deepening.

I was told by Dian that he resigned slightly from the entertainment world and worked in corporations. Work in a patriarchal world is very dominating," said Ario Bayu.

"And seeing Dian like that, I don't find it difficult to fall in love with her because she is seamless with Dian Sastro," he said again.

The Kretek girl tells the story of Lebas (Arya Saloka) who is assigned by her father to find the figure of Jeng Yah. She was assisted by Arum (Putri Marino) who finally revealed the secret between the two of them.

The series with five episodes can be watched on Netflix.
