JAKARTA - The story of the KKN in Penari Village will continue to a sequel. Manoj Punjabi as producer announced the news through MD Pictures' social media as a production house.

"It turns out that so far there are things that have not been told much," said Manoj Punjabi in his latest video.

Then, the video ends with a sequel to the KKN in Penari Village which will be shown in theaters next year.

"KKN di Desa Penari 2. Badarawuhi. Lebaran 2024 hanya di bioskop," begitu tulisan dalam video tersebut.

In addition to this information, MD Pictures has not disclosed the synopsis or players who will star in the sequel.

The film KKN in Penari Village was adapted from a thread on Twitter which had gone viral on social media. This film tells the story of an incident experienced by a group of students undergoing a Real Work Lecture (KKN) in East Java.

Nur (Tissa Biani), Widya (Adinda Thomas), Ayu (Aghniny Haque), Bima (Achmad Megantara), Anton (Calvin Jeremy), and Wahyu (Fajar Nugraha) underwent a KKN in a village led by Pak Prabu (Kiki Narendra).

Pak Prabu warned them not to cross the gate limit which was eventually violated. After that, the students began to feel strange in the midst of the implementation of the KKN program and it turned out that they were terrorized by mysterious dancers.

After several delays, this film finally officially opens in theaters on April 30, 2022. KKN in Penari Village got 10 million views and became the first film with the highest gain and became the highest-grossing film of all time.

In addition to the ordinary version, MD Pictures also released an uncut version where several scenes were presented in the film.
