The Last Voyage Of The Demeter Presents The Terror Of Dracula In The Middle Of The Sea

The crew of the Demeter ship that was sailing to England had to survive in the middle of the sea for days from terror that was spread by mystical creatures who fed Dracula's blood in the film The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Reporting from Antara, Thursday, August 17, the film, which was set in 1897, was opened with the discovery of a shipwreck that sank on the British coast. The police who checked the ill-fated ship did not find a single crew member who was still alive. However, they found a travel record book written by the captain of the ship.

Stepping back a little to the previous four weeks, at a port in Varna, Bulgaria, a merchant ship called Demeter received a cargo deposit that had to be delivered to London, England.

The cargo was sent by local residents who were suspiciously reluctant to help load cargo and only conveyed good luck to the crew.

The demeter, which was in a shortage of crew, eventually recruited several people including a doctor named Clemens (Corey Hawkins). Unknowingly, the ship carried a mysterious wooden coffin bearing the dragon emblem on its cap.

The crew of the Demeter was surprised by the appearance of a woman named Anna (Aisling Franciosi) from inside one of the wooden crates in a dying condition. After being treated by Clemens, Anna warned the crew of the mystical creature Dracula who was also on the Demeter ship.

The terror begins when all the livestock on board the ship mysteriously dies with bite marks on the neck. Shortly after that a crew member saw the appearance of a mysterious figure on guard at night.

However, these strange incidents have not convinced other crew members, especially Clemens, that the odd event was caused by Dracula as Anna warned.

After days in the middle of the sea, Dracula's figure is increasingly showing his form at night and even he starts attacking and killing the crew of the ship one by one to drink his blood. So that no more crew members will become the next victims.

The horror film, which features most of the night scenes, simply presents a tense horror feel.

The lack of light, thrilling accompanying music, plus shooting, which focuses on dark alleys and tense expressions of its characters, have added to the horror impression in the film.

Not only presenting tense horror elements, but the film The Last Voyage of the Demeter also features several emotional scenes, especially when the captain of the Demeter ship has to give up his favorite crew who died.

The captain of the ship, Elliot (Liam Cunningham), protects his crew and loves the Demeter ship which has been home throughout his career as a seafarer so that emotional ties have been established both with the crew and the Demeter ship itself.

The figure of Dracula in the film The Last Voyage of the Demeter seems different from the commonly known one. Not in the form of a human with his royal neat clothes and iconic black robe, Dracula in the film actually looks like a monster with a mouth filled with long shields and both hands can unfurl his wings.

Shock scenes or jumpscare were presented several times in the film The Last Voyage of the Demeter so that viewers who have excess fear with jumpcare scenes or cannot receive surprises should consider the consequences before watching the horror film.

The story in the film The Last Voyage of the Demeter is adapted from one of the chapters entitled The Captain's Log in a popular classic novel titled Draculakarangan by Bram Stoker which was first published in 1897.

The film The Last Voyage of the Demeter stars a row of well-known cast including Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Nikolai Nikolaeff, and Javier Botet.
