Arriving In Riyadh, Jokowi: The Extraordinary OKI Summit Is Important So An Effort To Stop Israeli Attacks On Palestine

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) arrived at King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Saturday, at 04.40 local time, after traveling for approximately 11 hours from Indonesia.

It appears that President Jokowi welcomes under the flight steps starting with Deputy Governor Riyadh Amir Mohammad bin Abdurrahman, Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Ahmad, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, and Defense Attache KBRI Riyadh Brigadier General Putut Witjaksono, as quoted from a statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta.

From King Khalid International Airport, President Jokowi headed to the hotel where he spent the night in Riyadh. At the hotel, the President was greeted by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Deputy Representative Head of the Republic of Indonesia in Riyadh Sugiri Suparwan, and Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Jeddah Yusron B. Ambary.

In Riyadh, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 11, President Jokowi is scheduled to attend the Extraordinary Summit of Organizations for Islamic Cooperation (OKI). The summit was held in response to the crisis situation in Gaza, Palestine due to brutal Israeli aggression.

In a statement before leaving for Riyadh, in Sidoarjo, East Java, Friday (10/11) night, President Jokowi said the Extraordinary OIC Summit was very important as an additional effort to stop Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

Jokowi at the Extraordinary OKI Summit will reinforce calls for a ceasefire to be implemented and humanitarian aid can be enlarged.

From Riyadh, President Jokowi will continue his trip to Washington DC, United States on November 12, 2023 to meet with US President Joe Biden, and then to San Francisco to attend the APEC (Aso-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Summit with two issues, namely sustainable development and inclusive development.
