Official! BYD Returns To Becoming King At Home In October 2023
JAKARTA - China's four-wheeled vehicle sales market showed a solid performance in October 2023. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), it was recorded that 2.033 million new cars were sold during that period.
Quoted from Carnewschina, Thursday, November 9, this figure showed an increase of 0.7 percent compared to the previous month and an increase of 10.2 percent from the same period the previous year.
Of these, 246,389 units are products from BYD, which accounted for 12.12 percent of the market share and led the list of brands with the highest sales in October 2023. This once again confirms the dominance of local manufacturers in the domestic market.
Below it, Volkswagen ranks second as the brand with the most car sales in China, with a total of 198,210 units sold or a market share of 9.75 percent. Meanwhile, Toyota took third place with sales of 151,003 vehicles or controlled the market share of 7.43 percent.
Another Japanese manufacturer, Honda, ranks fourth with sales of 130,221 units or controls 6.41 percent of the total market. Meanwhile, Geely managed to occupy fifth place in terms of sales, with a total of 92,770 units or a market share of 4.56 percent.
BYD continues to maintain its positive trend with the dominance of sales in the renewable energy vehicle segment, including electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). This Chinese manufacturer accounted for 27 percent of China's EV market, and controlled 41 percent of the total PHEV market in October.

In the EV segment, BYD managed to maintain its dominance with a total sales of 133,785 vehicles, and earned a market share of 27.03%. Meanwhile, Wuling took second place with sales of 45,087 cars and a market share of 9.11%. Meanwhile, GAC Aion is in third place with a total sales of 40,825 vehicles, controlling a market share of 8.25%. Tesla and Volkswagen complete the top five list as the brand of purely best-selling electric vehicles.
