Elon Musk Proposes Third Party Oversight in Artificial Intelligence Development at AI Safety Summit
JAKARTA - At the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Meeting in the UK, Elon Musk proposed the creation of a "third party referee" who could supervise companies developing artificial intelligence and provide warnings if there are concerns.
"Our main goal here is to establish a knowledge framework so that there is at least a third-party referee, an independent referee, who can look at what the leading AI companies are doing and at least raise a warning if they have concerns," billionaire Elon Musk told reporters at Bletchley Park, central England.
"Yeah, I don't know what fair rules should be, but you have to start with knowledge before carrying out supervision," said Musk, quoted by VOI from Reuters.

Musk's comments came after the UK published a declaration signed by 28 countries and the European Union that set out an agenda focused on identifying AI-related risks of shared concern, building scientific understanding of them, and building cross-border policies to address those risks.
"I think there's a lot of concern among AI experts that the government will come up with rules quickly, before they know what to do," Musk said. "I don't think that's possible."
