Reflecting On East Kalimantan, Jokowi Groundbreaking, Nusantara Capital Airport
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to lay the first stone for the construction (groundbreaking) of Nusantara Capital Airport (IKN), North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), and a number of other infrastructure such as hospitals and schools, on Wednesday 1 November.
During a working visit on the second day in East Kalimantan this Wednesday, President Jokowi will also review the toll road construction project which will later connect Balikpapan City with the IKN area, as quoted from the statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat.
After conducting a series of working visits, President Jokowi and his entourage will spend the night in the IKN area.
Also accompanying the President in his series of visits were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Ad Interim Erick Thohir, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono.
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, on Tuesday, inspected the construction site of the Nusantara Capital Airport (IKN) in Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan. The IKN Airport is 23 kilometers from the 0 point of IKN.

The Minister of Transportation explained that the construction of IKN Airport was carried out in accordance with the big concept of IKN, which is natural and environmentally friendly. Meanwhile, the design concept of the airport combines elements of local wisdom with modern elements, whose designs involve a number of architects.
IKN Airport was built to support connectivity at IKN, as well as serve the interests of government activities at IKN.
