Student Immoral Video Spreader In Batam Arrested, Perpetrator Doesn't Accept Disconnected Love

The Special Criminal Directorate (Ditkrimsus) of the Riau Islands Police (Kepri) arrested a suspect with the initials AM (22), related to the case of distributing immoral videos against female students in Batam.

"Yesterday (18/10), we found the circulation of immoral videos that reportedly occurred in Batam. After we investigated it, we found the victim with the initials N (20 years). Then after we carried out the examination and deepening process, we finally found a suspect with the initials AM (22 years)," said the Director of Special Crimes (Dirkrimsus) of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Nasriadi, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.

The suspect and the victim are known to have been dating for about 2.5 years. The video was deliberately spread on the victim's Instagram social media account, because it did not want to be decided.

He explained that the video was not only distributed once by the suspect. The first was on October 12, 2023, but it didn't go viral because it was midnight.

"So the victim's social media has been controlled by the suspect, because the password was already controlled when they were dating. The spread of the first video was a threat so that the victim could return to become the suspect's girlfriend," he said.

However, because the victim did not want to accept the suspect's request, he then repeated his actions on October 18, 2023 by uploading the video again.

"The video was made with pressure by the suspect. Because the suspect was known to be very possessive and also often abused the victim," he said.

The suspect admitted his actions on the grounds that he still loved the victim and did not want the victim to date another man. So he threatened by going viral with the video he made with the victim.

For his actions, the suspect violated the ITE law and pornography laws.

"Currently we are still conducting intensive examinations, examining all the evidence in the suspect. Are there other videos or uploading them on social media other than Instagram," he said.
