Liverpool Hasn't Completely Been In The Desired Place
JAKARTA - Liverpool started the 2023/2024 season less convincingly. Despite picking eight wins from 11 matches, the club's performance nicknamed the Reds has not been impressive.
In 11 matches, Liverpool have only recorded a cleansheet twice. In addition, in the five wins they had to fall behind first.
Liverpool defender Joel Matip said his team could perform better. However, he was happy that his team was still showing the quality of being able to turn things around after conceding.
"In terms of points, our start of the season was not too bad but in terms of appearances for more than 90 minutes we haven't been completely where we want to be," Matip said on the club's official website.
"In the end, we often turn things around and are happy to know that we still have the quality to do that. However, as a defender, I hope we can maintain the cleansheet and still win the game," he continued, as quoted by Antara.
Matip then emphasized that his team still has big ambitions this season. Jurgen Klopp's troops want to wipe out the four-event trophy that was followed this season.
The four championships include the English Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup. "We have four competitions going forward and we want to achieve success in all these competitions," he said.

On the same occasion, the defender, who has now made 194 appearances with 11 goals for Liverpool, also talked about four new signings for the team this season, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
"Dom and Macca have been playing around all the time and they did it brilliantly. You can see that either playing with the ball or fighting the ball, their adaptation is very good," said Matip.
"Wataru and Ryan came later but have shown that they can help us too," he concluded.
