SYL Extortion, Today Polda Metro Examines Former KPK Deputy Saut Situmorang

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Saut Situmorang will be questioned by investigators from the Corruption Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya, today. He will be questioned as a witness in the alleged extortion case by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL.

"Yes (examined as a witness)," said Saut Situmorang to VOI, Tuesday, October 17.

Saut is the Deputy Chair of the KPK for the period 2015 to 2019. However, it was not explained about the timing of the examination of him.

Separately, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, said that in today's series of examinations, investigators would also ask for statements from several other witnesses, three of whom were Ministry of Agriculture officials.

"Three witnesses from echelon 1 officials within the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture," he said.

Then, investigators will also examine two aides to the Ministry of Agriculture officials. However, the identity was not disclosed in detail.

So far, only conveyed, investigators have examined dozens of witnesses to reveal the suspect in the extortion case against SYL.

"Until yesterday, 23 witnesses have been questioned during the investigation process," said Ade.

Meanwhile, several witnesses were examined, namely Syahrul Yasin Limpo and Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar. They were questioned at the beginning of the case going up to the investigation stage.

Then, investigators have also examined Kevin Egananta, Friday, October 13. He is an ADC or an aide to the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

Then, the Director of Public Reporting and Complaints Services of the KPK, Tomi Murtomo, has also taken his statement, on Monday, October 16.
