BMW Electric Vehicle Global Sales Increase In The Third Quarter Of 2023
JAKARTA - BMW Group is one of the automotive companies that has begun to shift its focus on electrification. They also show their commitment in presenting many ranks of environmentally friendly vehicles.
Models such as iX, i4, i7, iX1, as well as products from Mini brands such as the Mini Electric model, received a positive response from the public globally. This is evidenced by the sales of companies that increased in this segment from last year's achievement.
BMW Group has sold 621,699 units overall in the third quarter of this year with 139,943 units of which include electrification covering Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV).
Thus, sales of environmentally friendly cars powered by electricity contributed 22.5 percent of the total in this period, an increase of 42 percent from last year's sales.
"Especially our electric products, benefiting from the high demand worldwide, as seen in our BEV sales, which significantly outperformed the total BEV market in the first nine months," Pieter Note said, as the BMW AG Customer Board of Management, Brands, and Sales, as reported by InsideEVs, Tuesday, October 10.
In detail, in this period, the BEV vehicles were successfully sold up to 93,931 units, an increase of 80 percent from last year's achievement. However, these positive achievements were not followed by PHEV models.
During the third quarter of 2023, PHEV sales decreased by one percent or totaling 46,012 units. PHEV cars presented by BMW include Series-3, X3, X5, and XM high-performance SUVs.
For periods from the first to the third quarters, BMW Group managed to achieve a total of 385,411 units in the electric vehicle segment or contributed a market share of 21 percent of the total and an increase of 36 percent from last year.

The sales of the BEV model so far this year amounted to 246,867 units, an increase of 93 percent. However, PHEV experienced a decline of 11 percent by posting 138,544 units sold in this period.
Of course, the company is confident that in this segment it will produce sales achievements that exceed last year. As an illustration, the BMW Group recorded 433,795 units in the sale of electrified vehicles in 2022.
