Get Ready! Hotel Owners Who Raise Prices To Soar Ahead Of MotoGp Will Be Entangled In Law
MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government is ready to take firm steps by ensnaring the law of hotel owners if they are found to increase hotel room prices outside existing regulations ahead of the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit on October 13-15, 2023.
"Hotel accommodation has been arranged to prevent prices from rising many times like MotoGP 2022. This year it is regulated that there is Pergub number 9 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Hotel and Transportation Tariff Accommodation Services Business, hotel industry players must pay attention to it not only hearing but also reading and obeying," said Head of the NTB Tourism Office, Jamaluddin Malady at the NTB Governor's Office as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 3.
He said that the Pergub has set the price of the highest room according to the existing zoning starting from zone 1, zone 2, and zone 3.
Zone 1 is located in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Central Lombok Regency. The maximum room rate increase is allowed, which is 3 times the previous rate.
"For example, the price of the previous room was Rp. 1 million, up to Rp. 3-4 million. That's the highest price, it can't be more," he said.
Furthermore, zone 2 covers parts of the West Lombok and Mataram City areas, the rate increases 2 times. Meanwhile, zone 3 covers the Senggigi and Tiga Gili areas in North Lombok Regency with a maximum increase of 1 time.
"It can go up but adjust it to the Governor's Regulation, why not because we don't want the increase in hotel accommodation to happen again when MotoGP 2022 costs rooms up 8 to 10 times," said Jamaluddin Malady.

The Mandalika MotoGP Field Commander emphasized that his party had created a Task Force consisting of a number of members from the NTB Provincial Government, Central Lombok Regency Government, Police, and tourism industry players. This task force is placed in three locations, namely the Mandalika Circuit, Nurul Bilad Mosque, and Lombok Police.
"So please let the public report if an unreasonable hotel room price is found," he said.
He explained that this task force was formed based on a Decree (SK) from the Central Lombok Regency Government.
"Later, there will be sanctions that will regulate increasing the price of hotel rooms above the governor's regulation, so there will be sanctions given, maybe the permit will be revoked. If we still violate it, we have coordinated with the NTB Police, we will snare hotel industry players with laws that harm consumers. Why, so that something like this doesn't happen," he said.
Therefore, to avoid being caught in the law, his party appealed to hotel industry players not to increase room rates outside the provisions.
"The perpetrators of the hotel industry should not do that. It's simple, the signs already exist, the rails already exist, the legal umbrella already exists, Pergub number 9 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of the Hotel and Transportation Tariff Accommodation Services Business. Just follow that, if you want to go up, you can but again it can't be higher than the Governor's Regulation," he said.
